This sweet baby shower was near and dear to Kasey’s heart. It was in honor of a very special woman in her life: her sister Rebecca, and Rebecca’s “brewing” child. “Brewing” was a theme throughout the event, as the theme was an Afternoon Tea (Becca’s favorite), where we brewed over 15 different styles of tea, led a blind tea tasting activity, decorated and wore British style fascinator hats, and enjoyed each other’s company.
Flowers were arranged in tiny tea cups (all sourced by the Honoree and Grandma to be in Grand Rapids, from local thrift stores). We tied assorted World Market napkins to the tops of each of the chairs. The style was eclectic with touches of British accents, signage in German and English, and colors of mint and gold tying it all together. Each place setting had a tea cup and matching saucer with a unique design that guests were encouraged to take them home with them. Celebrants were also given tiny muslin bags with snail shaped tea bag holders, and encouraged to fill the bags with their favorite teas enjoyed at the party.
There was no shortage of activities. When we weren’t decorating baby blocks with German and English words (Rebecca and her husband want to raise baby to speak both German and English, as dad is Austrian), placing a sticker on the “Boy” or “Girl” giant balloons to cast our prediction of the baby’s gender, sampling teas, playing gift bingo, and taking a quiz to see who knows mom and dad’s parenting style best, we caught up with family and friends. The 20 women (and Rebecca’s father–excited soon-to-be Grandpa) were in attendance from near and far.
Absolutely in love with how Elyn Marie Photo showcased the day. If you look closely, you’ll see how she even captured the steam rising from the boiling hot pitcher as it is served to guests. Amazing!
And of course, there were lots of presents to shower Rebecca and her unborn babe! This wee one was setup for success for his/her entrance to the world!
This blog was published just weeks after Baby Hofmann was actually born–now we know that she’s a beautiful and healthy baby girl!
It was so much fun celebrating you inside of your mommy’s belly. Now we can’t wait to celebrate a lifetime of love and happiness with you!
